We are a registered charity working across Lancashire (including Blackburn with Darwen and Blackpool) for Lesbian Gay Bisexual and Transgender (LGB and/or T) people. Our aim is to support LGB and/or T people in Lancashire to be happier, healthier and well connected.
LGBT Foundation is a national charity delivering advice, support and information services to lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans (LGBT) communities.
Maundy Relief operates as both a “first port of call” and a “last resort” for many people. As a well-known organisation embedded in the local community, people contact us for a myriad of reasons: help with furniture, household goods and food; counselling for those in mental distress; welcome, hospitality and companionship for the lonely; advice and informal advocacy for those struggling with bureaucracy or those who slip through the net of statutory services; group activities and training for those ready to move on in their lives.
Our organisation is a community of staff, volunteers, regular service users (“guests”) and well-wishers in the wider local community. Maundy Relief has a profound influence on all the people who are involved with it at whatever level. We believe that change is best brought about by an immediacy of response combined with building sustained and holistic relationships with those we encounter.
We’re here to let all lesbian, gay, bi and trans people, here and abroad, know they’re not alone.
We believe we’re stronger united, so we partner with organisations that help us create real change for the better. We have laid deep foundations across Britain – in some of our greatest institutions – so our communities can continue to find ways to flourish, and individuals can reach their full potential. We’re here to support those who can’t yet be themselves.
But our work is not finished yet. Not until everyone feels free to be who they are, wherever they are.
